Genesis 15:5:
Then He brought him outside and said, “Look now toward heaven, and count the stars if you are able to number them.” And He said to him, “So shall your descendants be.”
Description:
In this particular passage, God is promising Abraham that his descendants will be as numerous as the stars in the sky. God takes Abraham outside and asks him to look up at the heavens and count the stars, but tells him that his descendants will be too numerous to count. This promise of a vast multitude of descendants is significant because Abraham is considered the father of many nations in Judaism, Christianity, and Islam, and his descendants include the Jewish people and many Arab nations.
